Flax

(Linum L.)

Flax has overlying gastric mucosa protective properties. It is used to treat gastritis and enteritis, as well as catarrh bladder and urinary tract. Externally, it is used to treat skin inflammation, ulcers and eczema.
Flax seeds contain mucous compounds, protein and fat. They also contain organic acids, such as ascorbic acid, enzymes; as well as mineral salts: magnesium, zinc, and iron. Flax oil is rich in glycerides of unsaturated fatty acids (including linolenic and linoleic) and vitamin E.
